SAF Celebrates 50 Years of Gun Rights Advocacy with Video Release

Featured in:

As the Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) marks its 50th anniversary, the organization has unveiled a final, long-form video celebrating five decades of advocacy for America’s gun owners. Titled Reflections: Five Decades of SAF’s 2A Advocacy, the release caps off a series of 18 short films that chronicle SAF’s critical work since 1974 to defend the right to keep and bear arms.

The full-length video, available on SAF’s website and social media platforms (and below), offers a comprehensive look at SAF’s role in shaping Second Amendment law and policy. Featuring interviews with prominent advocates, scholars and attorneys, the film highlights SAF’s journey from its founding by Alan M. Gottlieb to landmark victories like the McDonald v. City of Chicago case in 2010. As Executive Director Adam Kraut notes, the organization’s momentum is stronger than ever as it looks toward the next 50 years of safeguarding constitutional rights.

“Alan started SAF in 1974 with one goal in mind – getting a case to the Supreme Court,” said Kraut. “The organization reached that goal in 2010 in the all-important McDonald v. City of Chicago case and momentum hasn’t slowed since. Joining SAF in the fight are some of the staunchest Second Amendment and constitutional freedom supporters across the U.S. The next 50 years will bring even more success, and I’m confident we will continue to build on the legacy Alan started in 1974.”
