Immigration officials have had their work cut out for them, aggressively pursuing and deporting violent illegal immigrants since President Donald Trump’s inauguration. They have not been alone, however, as it has been an all-hands-on-deck effort for federal, state and local agencies (where not corrupted by liberal politics) working together to clean up the mess created by Democrats and the Biden administration.
According to officials, two illegal migrants were taken into custody recently by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) for drug-running operations in Georgia and Maryland. The effort to apprehend the suspects, who have yet to be named, was part of a joint operation between HSI’s Baltimore and Atlanta field offices, the ATF’s Baltimore field division, the Baltimore Police Department, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. HSI also posted images of a collection of firearms (mainstream media would call it an arsenal) and ammunition seized as part of the operation, reporting the recovery of more than 30 weapons.
The arrests took place on January 30, only one day following the indictment of 10 Tren de Aragua gang members by Queens prosecutors for running a similar racket in New York City. The suspects in New York City are charged with running a large-scale firearm and drug-running operation across a minimum of six states. Prosecutors say the group was planning to expand internationally to Colombia. According to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, authorities recovered 34 firearms in the bust, including AR-15s and a 9mm Glock equipped with a full-auto switch.
In addition to gun-running operations, Katz says that Tren de Aragua gang members, notably responsible for hostile takeovers of apartment buildings and terrorizing residents in Aurora, Colorado, in 2024, were also trafficking deadly narcotics throughout the country, including pink cocaine, a designer street drug mixture of ketamine, MDMA and ecstasy. This subset of Tren de Aragua, led by a pair of Venezuelan nationals who arrived in New York City two years ago, established a gun and drug-running crew comprised of additional migrants. All 10 gang members arrested, two of whom are women, are from Venezuela and entered the United States illegally through the southern border, according to authorities.
Police say that an officer’s arm was broken by one of the gang members during the New York City arrests and that the migrant responsible will face additional charges.
Elections do have consequences, and the huge mess that has been left for the president and law enforcement officials to clean up highlights the burden of a country making the wrong choice or perhaps falling victim to fraudulent election results. Tren de Aragua is only part of the problem unleashed upon Americans in the last four years by the Biden administration, but a brazenly violent one that has spread out across the country. Now is a great time to see the value in many of the men and women who serve in the law enforcement community, and it may be time for agencies like the ATF to be refocused on actual criminals rather than creating them out of law-abiding citizens.
