Smith & Wesson Releases Their New CSX E-Series 9mm Pistols

Featured in:

Smith & Wesson announced the release of the new CSX E-Series 9mm pistols. The CSX E-Series are micro-compact pistols with aluminum alloy frames. Smith first released the CSX in 2022, and they’ve had a bunch of changes since then, bringing us to the latest E-Series.

The CSX E-Series

The new CSX E-Series guns are available in four configurations. They’re available in 3.1-inch or 3.6-inch barrel options. Within those options, you can choose models with 12, 15, and 17-round magazines or 10-round models for ban states.

The pistols still use aluminum frames and have stainless steel slides with an Armornite finish. They come with white 3-dot iron sights and are optics-ready. The E-Series uses the RMS-C/507K optics footprint. They also have what Smith & Wesson calls the “ClearSight cut” designed to divert gasses away from the optic lens.

I’ve shot a lot of optic-mounted pistols in recent years but haven’t seen that in operation. I’m curious how that works compared to an optic-mounted pistol without it.

The E-Series comes with a new modular grip adapter with interchangeable backstraps that lets users size the grip to their hands. Controls on the E-Series guns are ambidextrous. Smith has enhanced the trigger on the new guns as well.

They say it’s lighter, cleaner, and has an improved reset. It’s worth noting that the CSX pistols are single-action only. That’s unusual outside of the 1911 world but S&W has said their engineers were able to make the pistols smaller by using a single-action only mechanism rather than a striker-fired system. MSRP for any of the CSX E-Series pistols is $699.00.
