Taurus Announces the New TX9 Duty Pistol Series

Featured in:

Taurus is starting 2026 with an all-new pistol series in the form of the new “duty-grade” TX9 pistol series. A new striker-fired platform that is essentially the final realization of the TX platform, full of all the features that Taurus has tested out and proven on previous generation pistols.

The new duty series of pistols will feature three variants to start, including full-size, compact, and subcompact 9mm pistols, which can all share a serialized internal chassis, allowing users to switch between frame sizes as needed.

company as its first purpose-built, duty-grade pistol platform. Expanding the highly successful Taurus TX™ Platform into 9mm for the first time, the TX9 brings the shooter-focused DNA that made the TX22 a standout and applies it to a service-ready system engineered for duty, defense, and concealed carry.

Designed and tested to meet military and law-enforcement requirements worldwide, including NATO specifications, the TX9 represents a significant evolution in Taurus pistol design. Built in the USA, the TX9 establishes a unified standard for performance, consistency, and adaptability across three mission-driven configurations.

The Signature TX™ Platform — Reimagined as a Duty System

The TX9 is the next chapter in the TX™ Platform shooters have come to trust for ergonomics, shootability, and reliability. Now delivered in 9mm, the TX9 transforms that proven foundation into a true duty-grade platform, engineered for real-world professional and defensive use.

At the heart of the TX9 is the Taurus Modular System, a serialized steel chassis that enables modular grip configurations, simplified upgrades, and long-term platform adaptability. This architecture ensures the TX9 is not a single handgun, but a scalable system designed to evolve with the demands placed upon it.

Each TX9 model features a striker-fired trigger system engineered to deliver a clean, consistent trigger pull—enhancing accuracy, control, and shooter confidence on the range or in the field.

Optics-Ready by Design. Duty-Ready by Intent.

Every TX9 pistol is equipped with the Taurus T.O.R.O.™ (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide, utilizing shared optic-cut geometry for compatibility with today’s most popular red-dot optics. Designed as an integrated system from inception, the TX9 optics-ready platform delivers durability, repeatability, and long-term reliability—never a retrofitted compromise.

Taurus TX9 optics-ready striker-fired handgun

From the Full Size (17+1, 4.5”) to the Compact (15+1, 4.0”) and Subcompact (13+1, 3.4”), every TX9 model runs on the same serialized steel chassis, trigger geometry, and ambidextrous controls. That consistency means you can move between setups—duty, concealed, or off-duty—without having to retrain your muscle memory.

The T.O.R.O. slide cut system is also built right into the design to keep optic mounting solid and secure, avoiding the trade-offs that come with aftermarket milling and building on the previous success of Taurus’ own optic mounting system. If you add in a repeatable trigger and modular grip system, the TX9 brings pro-level performance at a price that the avereage-joe shooter can reach. More information, including pricing, will be available on the official product page here.
